Pursuant to the Draft Resolution (Reg. No. 4823), the parliamentary hearings will be held in autumn 2009 to attract the attention of the public, authorities and mass media to the issues of fighting tuberculosis in Ukraine, and define the strategic goals of the State policy in this field.
The Committee members stated that the previous parliamentary hearings dedicated to the problem of tuberculosis epidemic in Ukraine were held in May 2003. Two anti-tuberculosis programs of the national scope have been adopted afterwards.
The Committee members deem necessary to revise and improve the effective legislation in the field of fighting tuberculosis, as it is obsolete and unadapted to the present-day conditions.
Holding of the Parliamentary hearings will attract attention of the public, authorities and mass media to the issues of fighting tuberculosis in Ukraine, as well as define orientation of the State policy in the said field.
